The Tropical Ducks is a satire (and hopefully humour) blog-site of University of Nottingham Malaysia. It is named after our friendly feathery friends of the campus lake, who inspired the popular quote used by many lake-dwellers refusing to consume the same campus food everyday: “If I get any hungrier, I’ll grill these ducks to eat!”
Founded in 2019, The Tropical Ducks avoided the awkward printed publication phase and advanced to the internet, providing students and staff alike with instant campus news and information immediately upon publishing. Today, The Tropical Ducks has never once kept its promise of keeping readers updated twice a week, only less, always randomly.
As a rising information source of UNM, The Tropical Ducks aims to compete with the ever-efficient, SocMed-supported, credible news source UNMC Confessions, along with less threatening competitors like UNMC Ignite, UNM CMCO Comms newsletter, the possibly non-existent official student publication proposed by Student Association 17/18 and 18/19 vice president, as well as podcast site UNMC Diaries.
